Graduation Requirements

Ohio’s new high school graduation requirements give students more flexibility to choose a graduation pathway that builds on their strengths and passions – one that ensures they are ready for their next steps and excited about the future.

We tend to think of post-high school options as one of the following four options: employment, education, entrepreneurship, or enlistment.  In partnering with the Educational Service of Central Ohio, we created videos from our students in the Central Ohio region who have selected one of these options and share their experiences: Amazing Futures

In Worthington, we continue to provide support for students to select their graduation pathway.  In order to make it clear for students and families, we created the following visual to layout Ohio's graduation requirements as well as our courses and options for fulfilling them.  Feel free to click on the visual icons or download the whole document to view the clickable pictures for more information.  If you have any questions about the graduation requirements, feel free to reach out to your School Counselor.

College & Career Exploration Information

• Upcoming College Fairs and opportunities to meet with college admission representatives:

1. Ohio Association for College Admission Counseling: hosts the large Columbus Suburban College Fair at Otterbein University Sunday, October 11, 2026 from 1:00-3:00pm.  Pre-register here.
2. National Association of College Admission Counseling: hosts a large college fair in Cincinnati Sunday, October 18, 2026 from 1:00-4:00pm: details here. 
3. National Association for College Admission Counseling: hosts another large fair Saturday, February 7th, 2026 from 1:00-4:00pm at the Greater Columbus Convention Center (2027 information coming soon...)

  • Educational and service options through the Military, include the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard.  You are invited to connect with representatives who can offer tremendous detail: 2026 Military Contacts
  • The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is an assessment that measures abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military and is a valuable career exploration tool.  You are invited to register for the ASVAB, which takes place at the main campus high schools:

2026-2027 School Year

• ACT vs. SAT
  • Decide which test to take and view score concordance chart: Compare the ACT and SAT
• ACT
  • Registration fee of $70 (or $112 if you register late): Register for ACT
  • Your first four ACT score reports are sent for free at the time of registration and a fee of $20 is required for each additional score report.
  • Free ACT preparation/practice
• SAT
  • 2026 registration fee is $68 or ($106 if you register late).  Price increases in January, 2027: Register for SAT
  • Your first four SAT score reports are sent for free at the time of registration or within 9 days after your test date. After that, an additional fee of $15 per score report.
  • Free SAT preparation/practice
• Superscores
  • The ACT and SAT offer superscoring if you take either of these tests multiple times. It provides your highest composite score by combining your best section scores from each of your SAT or ACT test dates. While the ACT and the SAT both offer superscoring, it is essential you visit each college admission page to learn whether or not they accept superscores.
• Test-Optional
  • Description of test-optional policies and which colleges/universities require the ACT or SAT: Test-optional information
• Fee Waivers
  • Important that your family submits this if meets eligibility requirements for free or reduced lunch: Electronic application
  • If eligible, notify Laura prior to registering/paying for anything related to college entrance exams and college applications so she can assist you with fee waivers associated with test registration, sending additional score reports, test preparation resources, college applications, etc.
• Class of 2028 Worthington students will be automatically registered to take the state-sponsored (free to families) SAT. This one time event takes place on a date TBD in March 2027 at the student’s main campus high school.  While families may opt their child out of this experience, thoughtfulness in this decision-making process is encouraged as ideas regarding the future may change.

2026 Summer School

• Worthington’s Summer School Program
  • WCS Credit recovery & get-ahead learning options
     
• Non-district options: Worthington accepts credit from any accredited, online program and considers it “transfer credit”; the program and class name/grade is entered on your Worthington transcript, but does not calculate into your GPA.
  • Most frequently utilized program by Worthington high school students: Treca

College Credit Plus 2026-2027

College Credit Plus (CCP) provides Worthington high school students the opportunity to earn college and high school credit at the same time and at no cost to your family. This includes courses offered at the main campus high school, online through the college, at the college campus, during summer 2026, autumn 2026, and/or spring 2026 terms. Students are eligible to participate in this program with a minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA or through placement testing.  April 1st is the statewide deadline to submit your non binding Intent to Participate Form for the upcoming terms.  

If you put in a request in Infinite Campus during main campus registration to take a CCP course offered at your main campus high school next school year AND/OR you wish to explore options to take a CCP course online AND/OR you wish to explore options to take a CCP course in-person at a college,  please complete and return the three forms linked below to Laura.
After Laura receives these three forms from you (you are welcome to swing by her office for hard copies) she will send an email to the student and home adult within two school days confirming receipt and with specific information and next steps tailored to the interests that you express on the first form listed below:

Additionally, with permission from the home adult, we can link a student with a specific peer who excels in a particular content area and wishes to contribute to the Linworth Community by helping others. Notify Laura if interested in exploring this option!

• 2026 Academic Eligibility Requirements
  • If taking an online class, you must demonstrate you are 50% completed with the course, and passing, by the end of the 1st or 3rd quarters. You must then complete the course by the end of the 2nd and 4th quarters, which is the end of the fall and spring semester.

Worthington Academy

• Students may spend half day at Linworth and the other half at Worthington Academy, which is housed in the Phoenix/Perry Middle School building. Students are transported by the Linworth shuttle bus. If interested in applying, Laura will submit materials on your behalf and then Dr. Flynn, WA principal, will coordinate a family pathway meeting with you.

Delaware Area Career Center

DACC offers diverse half- and full-day programs for Worthington City School students during junior/senior year and a few senior-only programs. We typically have a couple Linworth students each year attending half days at DACC and the other half day at Linworth. Students interested in learning about opportunities available through Delaware Area Career Center should should review this: DACC program information.

Fall 2025 Timeline…

If your main campus is WKHS…

• October 8th: A DACC video will be shown in PACK period.
• October 9th: DACC representatives will be stationed in the WK Commons during each of the lunch periods to answer questions and will have hard copies of the required permission slip for the visit to DACC.  Extra copies will be available in the WK counseling center as well. 
• October 16th: Deadline to submit WK Student DACC Visit Form and return your hard copy DACC Visit Day permission form to the WK counseling office.
• November 21st: DACC visit day for students who completed a.) the Google Form (linked above) and b.) hard copy permission form (available Oct. 9) by the deadlines.  DACC applications available online after visiting!

If your main campus is TWHS…

• October 2nd: DACC representatives present in the TW main gym during all periods that day, which is a Linworth Orange Day.  Notify Laura about a period that works best for you to attend and she can help with the logistics.  
• October 17th: Registration deadline to attend the DACC Visit Day (Information will be provided at the Oct. 2nd presentation about the required registration form AND the permission form in order to attend the visit)
• November 21st: DACC visit day for students who completed the required steps.  DACC applications available online after visiting!

Authorization for Release/Exchange of Information

For continuity of care for students, you may find it valuable for communication to occur between the school and an outside provider. Student information is protected by privacy and a form signed by a parent/guardian can authorize consent for the school counselor and/or other personnel to communicate with the outside provider. This form can be returned to Laura or the Linworth Office: ROI Form
